Neighborhood

Adventure awaits on Pleasure Island. Exploring the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, home to incredible coastal wildlife, or take the scenic car ferry across the Cape Fear River for a relaxing visit to the charming town of Southport where quaint streets are filled with unique antique shops and galleries. History lovers can walk the scenic, live‑oak‑lined trails of the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, where Civil War bunkers still stand. Nature enthusiasts will love the island’s two state‑managed coastal preserves: Carolina Beach State Park, home to rare Venus flytraps found naturally only in this region, and the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, known for pristine beaches, marshes, and wildlife viewing. Both offer beautiful opportunities for hiking, paddling, fishing, and spotting pelicans or even nesting loggerhead sea turtles.

After a day outdoors, unwind on your private balcony with a sunset cocktail, or head into town to explore the best of Carolina Beach. The Carolina Beach Boardwalk, ranked one of the Top 10 Boardwalks in the U.S. by Food & Wine, features classic seaside fun—local restaurants, an arcade, ice cream shops, bars, and the famous Britt’s Donuts. In summer, enjoy weekly fireworks and live entertainment, carnival rides, family nights, and Flamingo BINGO. Off‑season brings signature island events like the Cape Fear Kite Festival, Christmas by the Sea, and the Island of Lights Festival. Pleasure Island offers something unforgettable for every traveler—adventure, relaxation, and the perfect coastal escape.

Other Things To Note

You must be at least 25 years of age to book this property.

Getting Around

Getting around Pleasure Island is a breeze! While parking can be limited in peak season, especially in popular spots, paid private or public parking is available. We recommend exploring Carolina Beach and Kure Beach on foot or by bike – they're super walkable and bike-friendly. You'll find safe pedestrian and bike routes, including the Island Greenway. Renting a golf cart or bike is easy, too, with several local rental companies. Golf carts are one of the easiest ways to cruise around the island. Rentals are simple to arrange, and once you're behind the wheel, you can zip along any road posted 35 mph or under.

"Close enough to walk to restaurants and the boardwalk. Beach was not crowded since no large condos or hotels that have easy access to the beach in front of our house. Cozy home.

Amazing Sunrises in the Morning

Review Date: November 22, 2022

Vacation Date: November 12, 2022

"The best thing about Casalona is the location. A well-maintained walkway directly to the beach with amazing sunrises in the morning. Walking distance to downtown CB and restaurants. I never used a rentals company through VRBO before, but the experience was great. Great communication and a seamless process to check-in and check-out. The property can use some updating inside and out, some things are dated and worn, but good experience all around.

Classic Carolina Beach House

Review Date: August 16, 2022

Vacation Date: August 10, 2022

"Perfect location with a small 3 minute drive into town. Private boardwalk directly to the beach. We loved the rocking chairs lining the porch. Spacious enough for me, 5 teenagers and a medium sized dog. One of the only beach houses that we have rented that still had plenty of hot water for the 6th person showering! Just a cute vintage beachfront house.

Perfect Location!!!

Vacation Date: June 25, 2022

"Having our own private beach access was superb. The house was located close enough to walk to most places. While it could use some minor updating the layout, deck, and parking were perfect. I would rent this place again.

Casalona was perfect

Review Date: October 14, 2021

Vacation Date: October 9, 2021

"We throughly enjoyed our stay at Casalona. It was very convenient to restaurants and only a short drive to the boardwalk. It was the perfect place to take my dog. He enjoyed his first visit on the beach. Only thing that would have made it perfectly would be to add a nonstick skillet for breakfast and a baking pan for biscuits, if you chose to cook breakfast there.
