You won't want to leave the Mermaid Cove in the quiet wooded area of Oak Island, just 2 blocks from the beach walkover. The well-marked walkway at SE 31st street provides a town kayak launch for the Davis Canal and a great view of the center of the island, not accessible by car. This is our favorite area to catch a great sunrise/sunset around the marshlands and to check out a lot of waterbirds. There is a secondary walking path at SE 20th, so there is potential for a longer loop for the runners in your group! We have lawn games for the teenagers and an elevator for the great-grandparents. Welcome to indoor-outdoor living at its best, with 2 screened porches, one up and one down, and a sun room off the living room. Our yard features a cornhole play area, putting green, and an outdoor shower. Hardwood floors throughout the living area make it user-friendly for beach goers. The great room is the perfect place for togetherness when you get back from the beach. Our bright, white open kitchen has all the storage and cookware you will need to make meals at home. Enjoy the nearby public boat launch and our neighborhood park's Splash Pad, Pickle Ball/Tennis courts, fitness center, senior center, and outdoor concerts at the amphitheater.

Ground Level: We are a one-story home with Stairs or an Elevator Lift to the living level.
We have a security camera at the front door.

Outdoor Shower, Screened In Patio with Outdoor Dining, Gas Grill, and Outdoor seating throughout the garden. Owner provides Cornhole. Guests bring their clubs and balls for the putting green. 1 adult bike and 1 child's bike for guest use.

Level 2: We are a one-story home on pilings.

Sun Room with small portable heater, ceiling fan.
Living Room: Smart TV, Sectional Sofa, Ceiling Fan. Open floor plan.
Dining: Seating for 6 at the table and counter seats for 2.
Kitchen: stainless steel refrigerator, range, dishwasher, microwave. Ninja Multi-Cooker, small appliances.
Primary Bedroom Suite: King Bed, Dresser, Wardrobe, Ceiling fan, Smart TV, Soft Side Seating Vignette, Ensuite Bath.
Primary Ensuite Bathroom: Custom tile shower, double vanity, toilet.
Guest Bedroom with Queen Bed, and a Twin/Twin Bunk Bed
Shared Hallway Bathroom with Bathtub and Shower
Guest Bedroom with Queen Size Bed, extra 3/4 Futon

Parking: 3-4 vehicles, size dependent. (Boat onsite is owner's property and not for guest use.)

Linens: Save money! Ask about a $189.10 discount if you want to bring your sheets and towels. If linen service is selected, they will be wrapped in sanitary packaging and laid on the bedspread.

Rental Policies:
In response to the increased incidence of credit card fraud, a valid government photo ID will be required for every reservation. A signed rental agreement is required: accepting House Rules on any online travel agency requires reading and acceptance of our rental agreement.

Arrival/Departure:
Summer Check-Ins (June-August) begin at 4 pm and are guaranteed by 6 pm
Off-Season Check-Ins begin at 3 pm and are guaranteed by 5 pm
Check Out is by 10 am.
We adhere to this policy, so please do not arrive early or plan to delay your departure.

Guest Access:
*Electronic entry. You will be provided a code before check-in.

House Rules:
No events such as weddings, bachelor's/bachelorette parties, sororities/fraternities
No Smoking

Pet Policy: Up to Three Dogs Allowed. One pet fee is included. Extra dogs must pay an added fee. No cats allowed.

Cancellation Policy:
- Free cancellation within 48 hours of booking
- After 48 hours of booking and more than 60 days out from arrival, a full refund will be processed less a $300 cancellation fee
- After 48 hours of booking and within 60 days of arrival, there will be no refund processed unless the dates are re rented. If premises are re rented, a refund will be processed less a $300 cancellation fee.

Things To Do:
Oak Island is known for its golden sand beaches, calming blue waters, friendly community, and proximity to the cities of Southport, Wilmington, and Myrtle Beach. There are many cute island coffee shops, stores, breweries, and a park that showcases a splash pad for summer fun! With a beautiful Golf Club open to summer travelers and over 100 public water access points, there is an abundance of all things adventurous to do on Oak Island!

If you'd like to keep your fitness routine going while on vacation, you can get an out-of-town Gym pass at Oak Island Recreation Center. Utilize the Rec Center's ample parking, put in at the Kayak ramp, and spend hours kayaking our beautiful marshes. Sit on the lawn and enjoy a night off cooking at our Weekly Friday night "Summer Concert In The Park" with a couple of local food truck options at this family-centric Live Music event. Beach Day takes place in Oak Island on the Friday before July 4th and features all-day activities followed by fireworks on the island that evening.

Visit Historic Southport, a seafaring town just five miles from our island, for a bigger nightlife. Southport, at the confluence of the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean, features a variety of different restaurants, bars, live music and shopping. It is one of our favorite places to walk around and check out different food and live music on the weekends. There are free parking options all over town, and you can easily walk to dozens of places while enjoying the breeze from the riverfront and admiring historic homes and general store buildings that date back to the early 1800s. Southport's State Fourth of July Festival is a three-day street fair with artists from all over the state, vendors, and food. It is truly like being in an Andy Griffith episode with the parade and grand finale fireworks show over the riverfront in Southport.
