Our sweet beach cottage is tucked among some of the prettiest mature woodlands on the island. Nestled between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Beach, Shoal Sisters is a perfect choice for a vacation that is not battered by ocean winds and sand, but quietly perched in a family neighborhood. A two-minute drive (or one-mile walk) will have you at the oceanfront in a flash. If you prefer to walk, we are just a few blocks from the beach walkover and the Oak Island Recreation Center! Our neighborhood is a jogger and dog walker’s dream: the well-marked walkway at SE 31st Street provides a town kayak launch for the Davis Canal and a great view of the center of the island, not accessible by car. This is our favorite area to catch a great sunrise/sunset around the marshlands and to check out a lot of waterbirds. There is a secondary walking path at SE 20th, so there is potential for a longer loop for the runners in your group! Lush landscaping and a wonderful backyard make this a private coastal retreat. Roast s'mores in an outdoor fire, walk your furry friend down the friendly street, or cozy up inside our open living space. With an oversized primary bedroom suite and two large, comfy bedrooms sharing their bath, you will have plenty of sleep time privacy. One-story living with only a few steps to the front porch, Shoal Sisters is perfect for travelers who need to avoid stairs.

Rental Policies:
In response to the increased incidence of credit card fraud, a valid government photo ID will be required for every reservation. A signed rental agreement is required: accepting House Rules on any online travel agency requires reading and acceptance of our rental agreement.

Golf Carts are allowed at this property.

Arrival & Departure:
Summer Check-Ins (June-August) begin at 4:00 pm and are guaranteed by 6:00 pm
Check Out is by 10:00 am
We adhere to this policy so please do not arrive early early or plan to delay your departure.

Prohibited on premises:
*no events such as weddings, sororities, fraternities, bachelor or bachelorette parties, etc...
*NO Smoking inside, outside, or in common areas.

Things to bring:
**Paper towels and toilet tissue, trash bags, soaps, detergents, minimal cleaning supplies, and beach towels.

Pets Allowed - One Dog Only. Rent includes one Pet Fee. Oak Island Beach is pet-friendly, but you must follow guidelines. Please check the town website for beach pet restrictions.

Cancellation Policy:
We want to make sure you’re aware of our cancellation policy. If you cancel when your arrival date is more than 60 days away, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel when your arrival date is less than 60 days away, you will forfeit your deposit.

Things To Do:
Oak Island is known for its golden sand beaches, calming blue waters, friendly community, and proximity to the cities of Southport, Wilmington, and Myrtle Beach. There are many cute island coffee shops, stores, breweries, and a park that showcases a splash pad for summer fun! With a beautiful Golf Club open to summer travelers and over 100 public water access points, there is an abundance of all things adventurous to do on Oak Island!

If you'd like to keep your fitness routine going while on vacation, you can get an out-of-town Gym pass at Oak Island Recreation Center. Utilize the Rec Center's ample parking, put in at the Kayak ramp, and spend hours kayaking our beautiful marshes. Sit on the lawn and enjoy a night off cooking at our Weekly Friday night "Summer Concert In The Park" with a couple of local food truck options at this family-centric Live Music event. Beach Day takes place in Oak Island on the Friday before July 4th and features all-day activities followed by fireworks on the island that evening.

Visit Historic Southport, a seafaring town just five miles from our island, for a bigger nightlife. Southport, at the confluence of the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean, features a variety of different restaurants, bars, live music and shopping. It is one of our favorite places to walk around and check out different food and live music on the weekends. There are free parking options all over town, and you can easily walk to dozens of places while enjoying the breeze from the riverfront and admiring historic homes and general store buildings that date back to the early 1800s. Southport's State Fourth of July Festival is a three-day street fair with artists from all over the state, vendors, and food. It is truly like being in an Andy Griffith episode with the parade and grand finale fireworks show over the riverfront in Southport.

Easy walk to beach

"Not bad all around. lots of rules and hoops to jump through with the rental company. The house is fine, in the kitchen is well stocked. the walk to the beach is also easy. a bit pricey for what it is, but it seems that's the way beach rentals are going

"We've stayed in lots of smaller beach houses off the ocean. Shoal Sisters' location in Oak Island is perfect. Rec center (workouts) half a block away. 0.7 mile walk to the ocean across a canal and a coastal marsh (i.e. beautiful scenery). 5-10 minutes from two groceries, restaurants, pubs. Shoal Sisters has all the amenities you need and the layout is simple. The kitchen has almost everything you can think of. Seacoast Rentals was easy to work with and responsive also if we had a problem. We loved our 5 week stay at Shoal Sisters!

"Adorable beach house located on a quiet street. Fenced in backyard made having our pups with us even easier. Lovely screened in porch where we spent many evenings enjoying our family time. House was perfect for our group of 6 and up to date with everything we needed. It is welcoming as soon as you walk in the door! We’ll be back!
