Looking for unique things to do in Carolina Beach? Check out the annual Pleasure Island Team Surf Fishing Challenge! This Carolina Beach fishing tournament, hosted by Fisherman’s Post, marks the beginning of the fishing competition season after a winter break. We are thrilled to reunite with our regular surf-fishing anglers and meet new ones as well.
The event takes place on Pleasure Island, offering a perfect opportunity to enjoy the beach and engage in some friendly competition.

About the Event
The spring surf fishing event on Pleasure Island is a team-based competition, allowing you to form a team of up to four anglers. Fishing is not only about catching fish but also about camaraderie, and this event honors that spirit. Even if your team has less than four anglers, you can still participate and compete. Each team can have up to eight rods in the water at a time, ensuring fair play and enabling teams to support each other when needed.
Teams will be competing in four categories: bluefish, red drum, sea mullet, and black drum. The leaderboard will be based on each team’s three-fish aggregate weight in each category. So if your team manages to weigh in the heaviest total weight of three bluefish, sea mullet, red drum, or black drum, there will be prize checks awaiting you on Sunday. Additionally, there are Team Aggregate TWT and Team Hall of Fame awards, adding more excitement to the event.
This tournament is not only a chance to win prizes but also an opportunity to contribute to a good cause. The event supports First Fruit Ministries, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing meals, emergency groceries, and shelter to those in need. All fish brought to the weigh-in will be donated to this organization.
